The tax credit has been extended into 2010.

Homes under contract before April 30, 2010 are eligible.

• The $8,000 tax credit is for first-time home buyers only.
• The $6,500 tax credit is for long term residents who don't qualify as "first time home buyers".
• The tax credit does not have to be repaid.
• Single taxpayers with incomes up to $125,000 and married couples with incomes up to $225,000 qualify for the full tax credit. Additional restrictions apply. See www.irs.gov for full details.
